Airport management system
AirLink of Adecs AIrInfra
Adecs AirInfra provides for a number of regional airports the management system AirLink for a streamlined operation on – and around the airport. The core functionality of AirLink is to reduce the turn-around time of an aircraft, by means of communication in an efficient way.
How are we looking back on this project?
The developments made at AirLink have been experienced as interesting, educational and extending boundaries. By making fundamental adjustments to the entire system, there has been a major impact on this system for the future, a future in which users can filter, sort, group and export the data even more efficiently.
What was needed?
One of the many functionalities within AirLink is the operational flight screen, where all incoming and outgoing flights are visible. This screen needed to be replaced. A functional requirement for the operational flight screen is to obtain real-time information without page refresh. In addition, it was also time to replace all overview tables with a generic implementation in which columns could be set per user and filters could be dynamically built as a kind of query. It became very important to use “generic”, it should be easy to re-use on other pages.
How did we achieve this?
Founder Ruud Faessen has during his internship period from study to fulfil the wish, after his internship period he has been working for some time to further expand the functionalities.
For AirLink, a fundamental change has been made to simply provide the entire system with a generic table and filter system. ag-grid has been used that provides the functionalities on the front side for the dynamic setting of columns. At the time, filters were not yet well developed in ag-grid, so the choice was made for query-builder, which also brought with it the necessary UI wishes. The front (client-side) was therefore relatively simple, but the underlying functionalities (back-end) were more complicated. Columns should be generated on the basis of different data models, and it should also be possible to indicate for each column whether it should be available to certain users (by means of rights).
